Our beginning sewing class is 1 1/2 hours long and taught in four week sessions (4 classes).

Class fee:  $75.00  Sibling $65.00  Monthly (4 classes per month)

Ages 7-12

Time: 12:00-1:30pm

July Dates :   Wednesday  10, 17, 24, 31

September Dates : 4, 11, 18, 25

Class fee includes beginning sewing instruction, all materials and a completed sewing project for each class.

Students will learn:

* Threading a sewing machine

* Inserting and removing fabric from a sewing machine

* Sewing straight lines and turning corners

* Identifying right and wrong sides of fabric

* Proper pinning of fabric

* Sewing with a consistent seam allowance

* Inside-out sewing construction

* Proper stuffing techniques 

* Hand sewing invisible stitching

Please be advised that we do use sewing machines, pins, sharp scissors and hot irons. We teach safety first, but accidents can happen.  By registering for class, you are giving Makerspace 101 instructors permission to perform basic first aid if necessary.  Please understand that your child must be capable of listening to instructions and using materials in a safe way to be allowed to take classes.

 

Make up classes are not available. However, we will work with your child to get them caught up with their projects.
